On November 3rd, 2017, Wilks Ranches hosted the American Angus National Tour 2017 their Sale Barn in Eastland, TX. Tour busses rolled in from Fort Worth, caravanning over 450 eager participants to visit the Wilks Ranches facilities at their registered ranch and to observe some nationally recognized quality Black Angus bulls and females presented by Wilks Ranches and Texas Angus Association. The tour enjoyed a true cattleman’s lunch at the Sale Barn before heading back to Fort Worth for the National Angus Convention. The tour also visited Hoofstock Genetics, whom Wilks Ranches works very closely with, in Ranger. Tour-goers included representatives from many other Black Angus Cattle breeders, registered operations, commercial cattlemen, and other organizations like the Canadian Angus Association, The Luling Association, and Bruner Angus Ranch among many other notable participants.

The tour was just part of the famed National Angus Convention. This year, the event included speakers from Merck Animal Health, Taste of Texas, CattleFax and others. The convention also included Angus University which provided participants with education on maternal value, genetics, cattle demonstrations, and information on the industry’s end products. Education, a trade show, the tour, top speakers, and, of course, live performances by Neal McCoy and Red Steagull were enjoyed by US and international attendees.

Wilks Ranch was honored to host the American Angus Association’s National Tour this year and thanks all those who joined them for lunch and education at their Sale Barn here in Eastland.
